AGENDA

As the CBPR2 deadline approaches on 19th April, AFEP are hosting a 30 minute bite size webinar on what to expect and how we believe the new regulations apply to our members. Richard Creed from Creed Solicitors will be taking us through the work he has been doing for AFEP on this topic and giving an overview of the legal opinion AFEP have obtained about the applicability of CBPR2 to our industry.A pre-recorded version of Richards’ webinar can be found here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCQux3Fudl0Following on from Richard Creed’s webinar last week on when firms have to disclose the profit they make on foreign exchange transactions relating to credit transfers (which comes into force on Sunday 19 April 2020) the FCA have issued a statement in light of COVID 19 which can be found here: https://www.fca.org.uk/firms/information-firms-coronavirus-covid-19-response.In the statement the FCA makes clear that it expects firms to comply with the transparency requirements where they can, but says that it will take a “reasonable approach” towards enforcement of the rules in light of the need to preserve the stability and continuity of online payment services. This may mean assessing the immediate need to meet the new transparency obligations against the risk of introducing non-essential risk or a significant reduction in a firm’s capacity to deliver frontline services to customers in the present circumstances
